Maternal bonding, negative affect, and infant social-emotional development: A prospective cohort study

نویسندگان

چکیده

Theoretical perspectives and empirical evidence suggest that maternal bonding negative affect play a role in supporting infant social-emotional development (Branjerdporn et al., 2017; Kingston 2012; O'Donnell 2014; Van den Bergh 2017). However, the complex pathways likely to exist between these constructs remain unclear, with limited research examining temporal potentially bi-directional associations across pregnancy infancy. The interrelationships bonding, affect, were examined using multi-wave perinatal data from an Australian cohort study (N = 1,579). Self-reported assessed at each trimester, 8 weeks 12 months postpartum. Bayley-III scale was administered age months. Results revealed strong continuities Small (? -.10 -.20) existed during poor early bonding. Higher postnatal predicted .17). Limitations include somewhat advantaged predominantly Anglo-Saxon sample of families, use self-report measures (though psychometric properties). These limitations should be considered when interpreting findings. Maternal are interrelated yet unique constructs, suggested developmental interplay mother-to-infant social-affective development.

OBJECTIVE Coffee and other caffeinated beverages are commonly consumed in pregnancy. In adults, caffeine may interfere with sleep onset and have a dose-response effect similar to those seen during insomnia. In infancy, nighttime waking is a common event. What factors affect intrapartum maternal temperature? A prospective cohort study: maternal intrapartum temperature.

BACKGROUND In recent years, several reports have indicated that maternal temperature elevations during labor may also be observed in the absence of an infection. Presumed noninfectious causes of maternal temperature elevations include epidural analgesia, endogenous heat production generated by the contracting uterus, and delivery in an overheated room. To investigate the potential causes of non...

Maternal Vitamin D Status and Infant Outcomes in Rural Vietnam: A Prospective Cohort Study

OBJECTIVE Vitamin D deficiency affects 1 billion people globally. It has an important role in bone homeostasis, brain development and modulation of the immune system and yet the impact of antenatal vitamin D deficiency on infant outcomes is poorly understood. We assessed the association of 25- hydroxyvitamin D levels (25-OHD) in late pregnancy and early infant growth and developmental outcomes ...

We aimed to test a model in which maternal negative affect would be related to maternal emotional eating which in turn would be associated with child emotional eating through maternal feeding practices (emotional...
